| Description | ||||
| To encourage the public to demonstrate care and concern for the less fortunate members of our society, including the handicapped, a "Share Love" special stamp is being issued on April 20, when the nation observes the Day of the Disabled.
At present, the disabled in Korea number well over one million. Because an increasing number of people suffer from disabilities as a result of accidents or diseases, in addition to those with congenital disabilities, we can no longer turn a blind eye to the pain and agony of the handicapped in our midst. They could be our own neighbors and family members. There are also a large number of teenage breadwinners, abandoned children in the care of public welfare facilities, and unsupported elderly people in our society who are left out in the cold. A little care and help on our part would go a long way to relieving the plight and wounds of the forlorn and underprivileged. It is wonderful to see many caring and warmhearted good Samaritans making a difference in the community by volunteering their time and service. We invite you to join in their efforts in sharing what they have with those in need. The sign language featured on this stamp symbolizes "I love you". This special stamp is the first Korean stamp in the shape of a heart. This stamp is also the second aromatic stamp, following the Protection of the Endangered Species special stamp issued this year. Why don’ t you send your love stamped with this sweet rose-scented delight? |
