| Description | ||||
| The leaders of South and North Korea now plan to meet for the first time since the country was divided 55 years ago. They will discuss ways to realize reconciliation and unity, exchanges and cooperation, and peace and unification of the people. Scheduled to be held from June 12 to 14 in Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, the summit meeting is expected to help close the final chapters of the Cold War, lessen the half-century-old peninsular division, restore the homogeneity of the Korean people, and lay the groundwork for the eventual peaceful reunification of the country.
The Ministry of Information and Communication is issuing a commemorative stamp to mark this historic South-North summit. The stamp features a "bud of hope" coming up from the center of the Korean peninsula, reflecting our fervent desire that this summit will usher in a new era of reconciliation and cooperation in South-North relations. |
