Description
The Icograda Millennium Congress, Oullim 2000 Seoul, will be held from October 24 through 29 at the COEX in SeouL

The International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda) is the professional non-governmental world organization for graphic design and visual communications. Icograda was founded in London in 1963, and currently consists of 61 member associations from 42 countries.

Oullim 2000 Seoul has dual significance in that it is a special international congress to mark the new millennium as well as the first congress of this millennium. "Oullim", the theme for this Seoul Congress, is a Korean word meaning "great harmony," originating from the "Tae-geuk" philosophy of the Orient, "Oullim" refers to the process wherein all things mingle simultaneously to arrange themselves in a harmonious whole and also embodies the basic principle of the universe that creates all material existence.

Major programs of the Congress will consist of conferences, an array of exhibitions such as the "lcograda Visual Communication Today" and "Cutting Edge Moving Image International Festival" as well as the "lcograda Regional Meeting". Conferences shall consist of presentations by some 50 prominent members of the global design community on the theme of "Oulllm". In addition, the Icograda Graphic Design Education Manifesto for the 21st century will be unveiled to commemorate the year 2000.

The Ministry of Information and Communication is issuing a commemorative stamp to celebrate the Icograda Seoul Congress, the first to be held in Korea. The stamp features the Icograda Millennium Congress symbol, which represents the movement of the universe in which all things are created and cease to exist. It reflects the collective will and dedication of graphic designers to produce designs for a harmonious future society.
