| Description | ||||
| The significance of statistics in a knowledge-based society in the era of information increases with each passing day. Statistics not only forms the very basis for establishing national government policies but also offers data to enterprises in making management decisions. Laymen also utilize statistics in making rational judgments and decisions.
Since its first session in 1887 in Rome, the International Statistical Institute (ISI) has met every two years, thus boasting a time-honored history. It is "the Olympiad of Statisticians" in which those in the field of statistics from around the world get together and discuss everything about statistics. The 53rd session, which will be held in Korea for the first time, will be held from August 22 to 29 of this year. As the first gathering since the new millennium began, this event will bear great significance in looking back on the footsteps of the statisticians of the past century, and charting a new direction for statistics in the 21st century. Crystallizing a wish for this occasion to offer much sought-after momentum in making concrete efforts to achieve genuine growth in the field of statistics in Korea, a commemorative stamp featuring the motifs of the COEX and Hahoe traditional Korean masque images will be printed. |
