Description
In the second bundle of the Korean Orchid series, orchids including Cymbidium kanran Makino, Gastrodia elata Blume, Pogonia japonica Reichb. fil., and Cephalanthera falcata (Thunb.) Blume, will be introduced.

Gastrodia elata Blume:
This perennial plant grows deep in the mountains of Korea. Its scape is about one meter and normally does not sprout any leaves, although some do have scale-like leaves. The flowers, lemon yellow and yellowish brown in hue, bloom in June and July. The fruits, usually oval-shaped capsules, are produced in August and September. They grow naturally across the nation including Jeju island but the species are on the decline as they have been gathered without control for medicinal uses.
