The stamps depict the animals that live in the Arctic and Antarctic regions of the Earth.
15 won stamp : Pygoscelis adeliae Spread in the Antarctic zone, it is 72.5-76cm long. It catches food while swimming 24 kilometers per hour. It goes ashore during September and October(spring in the Antarctic)sits on its eggs, which hatch after 40 days. A month after their birth, the young jump into the sea in rookeries swimming for food. 70 won stamp : Odobenus rosmarus It live in the frozen sea and on the seashore. The male is 3.1-3.8m long and the female is 2.8-3.4m. Both male and female have long tusks. The legs almost became flippers but it still walks. living in groups, it lives on various shellfishes in the sea. 140 won stamp : Thalarctos maritimus It is 220-250 cm long and its tail is 8-10 cm. It is the biggest among bears. The fur is white, and head is long with short ears. It usually breeds 2 babies. 150 won stamp : Balaena mysticetus It is as long as 15-18m(21m at the longest) and as heavy as 100t. The grown-up is black while the baby is dark blue. It moves according to seasons, eating Crustacea and squids. It forms group by 2, or by 3-5. 220 won stamp : Phoca largha It lives in the northern hemisphere, aroung the Antarctic, and in the seas in the temperate and tripical zones. It is 1.3-2m long and twists its body to move about. It moves freely in water by swimming.It lives on floating large ice blocks from June to late autumn. It breeds cubs between March and April.
