| Description | ||||

In 2006, Sookmyung Women's University commemorates the 100th anniversary of its establishment.
In 1906, the Royal Family of Emperor Gojong established Myungshin Girl's School, Korea's first private national school for women, with the spirit of "National Salvation and Love for the Korean people." Since then, the school has continued to evolve with its name changing to Myungshin Girl's High School, Sookmyung Girl's High School and Sookmyung Women's College, which in 1955 was upgraded to Sookmyung Women's University. On the occasion of its centennial, Sookmyung Women's University has set the goal of "achieving a quantum leap to become a world leading university by nurturing 10% of Korean leaders by 2020." Anticipating Sookmyung Women's University to embark on a new millennium as a Gentle Power to Change the World, a commemorative stamp featuring its "Second-Foundation Campus" is issued. |
