| Description | ||||

The 2006 Korean Philatelic Exhibition is held from August 3 to 7, 2006 at the Forth
Exhibition Room, Asia Pacific Hall, COEX.
At this Exhibition, prize winning stamp exhibits from the Korean Philatelic Exhibition and 5 frames of North Korean stamps are displayed, together with the stamps issued so far in Korea and some of the original drawings created by stamp designers. The unique aspect of this 2006 Exhibition is the launch of new exhibition corners: "The Postal History Hall" that shows the history of Korea's postal service by displaying how postman's uniforms, postboxes, bags, etc. have changed over time; "Goguryeo & Dokdo Hall" where stamps related to the histories of Goguryeo and Dokdo are displayed; "The Corner for Proud Korean Philatelists" that displays the successive stamp exhibits that were awarded prizes by the World Stamp Exhibitions and the articles given as prizes. In addition, various events such as a lecture on philatelic culture, introduction of the cyber stamp-exhibit, currency exhibition hall, etc. are in operation as in other years, along with a musical puppet show and magic show for the younger audience. The theme of this year's Philately Week Special Stamp is marriage: the promise of everlasting love is expressed through two fingerprints overlapped in a heart shape. These special stamps were printed using optically variable ink and are issued in two different types: one where the optically variable ink is applied to the heart-shaped portion; the other where optically variable ink is applied to the boundaries of the heart-shaped portion. At the selvage of the souvenir sheet, such symbols of love as a bunch of flowers, marriage ring, wedding cake, champagne, champagne cups, etc. are displayed. |
