Description
The 9th Asia Pacific Orchid Conference will be held at KINTEX located in Goyang city, Gyeonggi province from March 16 to 26, 2007.

The Asia Pacific Orchid Exhibition and Academic Conference has been held every 3 years since the first exhibition was held in Tokyo, Japan in 1984. Intended to help both orchid growers and the overall orchid industry accumulate orchid-related knowledge and to foster the orchid industry through orchid-related academic seminars and exhibitions, this Exhibition/Conference boasts 20 countries in the Asia Pacific region as its members. Held in Goyang, a city of flowers and lakes that is famous for its flower fairs, this round of Exhibition/Conference will showcase the garden of oriental orchids, the garden of western orchids, orchid cultural center, etc., with a pavilion of outstanding works displaying superior orchid works from in and out of the country. This round of Exhibition/Conference, participated by about 100 foreign and domestic companies is the first of its kind held in Korea. In addition to experiencing the various landscape architecture that incorporate orchids and many other spectacular things to see, the visitor will also be able to learn how to grow and appreciate the orchid.

Wishing the 9th Asia Pacific Orchid Exhibition and Academic Conference a great success, a new stamp featuring the Cypripedium agnicapitatum Y. Lee is issued. Cypripedium agnicapitatum Y. Lee is named so because it looks like a cypripedium macranthum but resembles the head of a sheep. As an endemic plant found only in Korea and first discovered in 2002 in Baekdusan (Mountain), Cypripedium agnicapitatum Y. Lee is an orchid that Korea can boast to the entire world.
