A sheetlet was issued to mark the 60th anniversary of issue of the DPRK's first currency

After liberation President Kim II Sung took a measure to enforce the currency reform in December, Juche 36(1947) to establish the independent national currency in the DPRK and realize the currency stabilization, thus ushering in a new era of the independent monetary system.

The currency reform made it possible for the Korean people to ultimately do away with the colonial dependence upon the Japanese established monetary system and the after effects of inflation and to introduce the monolithic monetary system that laid the independent financial foundations or the Korean nation.
