Inline skating dates back to the early 1700s, when a Dutch who wanted to ride his skate even in the summer put a spool into a wooden piece and attached it to his shoes. Unlike roller skates with which we are familiar, inline skate's wheels are in a single alignment. Basically in the form of 3~5 wheels attached to a ski boot, the inline skate is divided into 3 different types. First, "Fitness" is the inline skate used for leisure purpose. Second, "Aggressive" is the model that allows its rider to perform intricate tricks. And the third type is called "Hockey." Of these 3 types, most popular is Aggressive which can allow the user to execute splendid and fabulous feats. Aggressive allows for a wide range of feats ranging from riding on a half-circle- shaped half pipe, to making a jump, and to grinding technology where a rider can climb down railings by putting the grooves between the shoe wheels into the railings.

Inline skating has a plethora of devotees across the world, and a wide variety of world competitions are held. In Korea also, professional inline skaters who perform well in world competitions have started to appear, with inline skating itself becoming a popular leisure activity enjoyed by the entire family.
