Comprising the second installment of the Korean Film Series (2nd), four representative movies produced after Korea's liberation from Japanese colonial rule until the 1960s are introduced.

The Wedding Day (Sijibganeun nal)
Adapted from Oh Young-Jin's drama "Happy Event of Scholar Maeng", this movie satirizes the entrenched stratification of society and old fashioned marriage system of that time. Hearing a rumor that the minister's son is lame, scholar Maeng gives in marriage not his daughter but her maid. By receiving the Best Comedy at the 4th Asian Film Festival, this movie became the first Korean movie to receive an award in any overseas film festival. Directed by Lee Byung-il, this film has as its actors Jo Mi-Ryeong, Kim Seung-Ho, Choi Hyeon, etc. It was produced in 1956 by Donga Film Co. Ltd.
