Description

As the nightmare of the proliferation of nuclear weapons and nuclear materials emerges as a major threat to the 21 century's global security, the need to establish a system of worldwide cooperation designed to prevent and address the threat of nuclear terror has become paramount. As a result, the "Nuclear Security Summit" was established, with the second "Nuclear Security Summit" scheduled to be held in Seoul, following the first summit held April 2010 in Washington.

Participated by the heads of approximately 50 countries around the world including the U.S., China, Japan, France and Russia, as well as the heads of such international bodies as the UN, the Seoul "Nuclear Security Summit" to be held for two days from March 26 to 27, 2012 will discuss various action plans leading to international cooperation in countering nuclear terror, prevention of illegal transactions of nuclear materials, and protection of nuclear-related facilities such as nuclear materials and nuclear power plants, as well as adopting the "Seoul Communique" a summit declaration that proclaims the vision and action plans of the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit.

In the hope that this Summit that will harvest the wisdom on how to accomplish "a world without nuclear terror," a shared mission of the international community will turn out to be a resounding success, and that mankind's efforts toward peace will bear fruit, two commemorative stamps featuring the dove, the symbol of peace, and the logo of the Summit are issued.
