| Description | ||||
|
President Park, Chung Hee following his historic visit to the Federal Republic of
Germany in December 1964 and the United States in May 1965, visited the free countries of the
Southeast Asia for 12 days from February 7, 1966, and held a series of summit conferences to
strengthen free world solidarity and promote common prosperity.
Through his Southeast Asian tour, the Chief Executive has brought the free countries in the region closer together and thus enhanced the national prestige of our country abroad. The Presidential visit has also laid a foundation for concerted effort to counter communism, the common enemy of the free world, and uphold freedom and peace as well as for effective ways to solidify the free world unity through economic cooperation in the region. Unprecedentedly warm and enthusiastic welcome marked the visit of the President in each of the countries he toured. The inspiring speeches he delivered during his state visits deeply moved and impressed the peoples of those countries, giving them a better understanding of our republic. To express, our national gratitude to the President for his successful Southeast Asian visits and to commemorate the significance of the historic visits, the Ministry of Communications issues a commemorative stamp. |
