The 15th annual Assembly of Delegates of WCOTP will be held in Seoul under the
auspieces of Korean Federation of Educators Association, from July 28 through August 9, 1966. This
WCOTP was established in August 1952 by delegates from 25 free countries who met in Copenhagen, the
capital city of Denmark to integrate the three large separate educator`s groups - World Organization
for Teachers Profession, International Teachers Association and Confederation of Secondary Teachers
Association - into one strong organization.
Since its founding, each member nation has taken turns holding the annual Assembly in his country and the number of the member nations has ever increased year after year. The 15th annual Assembly to be held in Seoul, the capital city of Korea, is expected to be attended by more than 400 delegates from 90 odd countries. This will be one of the largest international meeting ever held in Korea. The WCOTP, which brings together all the educators of the world in one organization is aimed at; 1) promoting international understanding and good-will to preserve peace, freedom and human dignity through educational efforts; 2) improving educational methods, academic and professional training of educators at every level institutions to provide better education for the welfare of the young generation; 3) advocating the rights, material and moral advantages of the teachers profession; 4) and strengthening the international ties among the world teachers. The Ministry of Communications will issue a commemorative stamp to celebrate and commemorate this meaningful international meeting in this country. |
