Description
Veterans` Day is observed on May 8 each year. The Korean Veterans` Association was founded in February, 1, 1952, at then temporary capital, Pusan and 9 years later since then, it had affiliated itself with an international veterans organization, becoming a member of World Federation of Veterans Associations.

Today, the Korean Veterans` Association has become a vast organization that includes a membership of 2.3 million, comprising 12 provincial chapters, 186 country branches and 2,246 Dong sub-branches. The Korean veterans have fought for the country devoting themselves when the destiny of their country have been at stake, and today, they are leading in the vanguard of the nation`s great march toward the modernization. The Korean Veterans` Association is organized to promote the friendship among its memberships and is also aimed at cultivating the military spirit and military experience of its members for the national solidarity and for the defense of freedom and national independence. The Korean Veterans` Association has taken part in the five-year national land development program and has made a remarkable achievements. They have so far completed construction of 8 bridges, 2 roads, and 1 small reservoir and have planted 2,220,000 polar seedlings under a forestation program while the reclaimed 4,333,000 pyong area into arable lands, having 534 of veterans households settled on the land.

On the significant occasion of the Veterans` Day, the whole nation extends its congratulations and expects them to play a greater role in building a richer nation with their vitality, courage and love for the country.
