The Second Conference of the International Confederation of University Presidents
will be held in Seoul on June 18 to June 20, 1968, under the auspices of KyungHee University, Seoul.
The International Confederation of University Presidents was inaugurated in its first conference held at the University of Oxford, England, on June 29, 1965, with the objectives to seek out effective solutions for sound and rational management of university through exchange of candid opinions and discussions of the problems now universally challenging the society of universities all over the world and, at the same time, to further solidify the bonds of international friendship through promoting good-will among the universities of the world. The international Confederation holds today 264 member-universities throughout the world and the member-universities meet in a conference hosted by the country of respective member-university triennially in rotation. Over 150 university presidents from 30 countries and 200 observers of prominence host will meet at the forthcoming conference in Seoul for discussion and exchange of opinions on such subjects as "the harmony of East-West cultures and world peace," "the educational planning for developing nations" and "the university students and social participation." It is hoped that the Seoul conference will prove an opportunity of introducing the unique cultural heritage of Korea to the world and also result in lending an impetus to the development of university education in Korea. |
