Description
The 3rd General Assembly of the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations will be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from September 16th through 21st this year. This Federation was founded on April 22, 1964 in Manila, the Philippines, for the purpose of promoting the public health and friendship through understanding and exchange of information on pharmaceutical science among the Pharmacists of the Asian countries.

At the outset, the Federation started with 5 countries as members, namely, Hong Kong, Japan, Pakistan, the Philippines and Thailand. Republic of Korea became a formal member together with Free China, Israel and Vietnam at the 2nd Congress held in Tokyo, Japan, on August 1st 1966. More than 1,700 delegates formal member-countries including Korea, Australia as an associate member and 13 observer countries will participate in the congress with two main topics for discussion on the Natural Resources of Drugs in Asia and Problems of the Food and Drug Additives.

The Ministry of Communications will issue a postage stamp to commemorate this international pharmaceutical congress which is to be held for the first time in Korea and in the hope that this occasion will serve to further promote the public health of Korean people and the development of pharmaceutical industry of the nation.
