| Description | ||||
|
On November 23, 1945, the Yalu River was dyed with innocent blood of hundreds of
young students those who dauntlessly rebeled against the communist rule in the North Korea.
It was a great event to be historically remembered as the Shin Eui Ju anti-communist students
uprising. While rejoicings and excitements brought with the liberation from Japanese rule were still
hot, the Soviet Union`s Red Army has postured themselves as malicious intruders as soon as they came
into the North Korea, thus plunging the people into the dark abyss of massacre, pillage and firing.
De-cultural oppression and piracy which characterized the red occupation authorities and their
communist henchmen, and had already awaken the untameable resentment of the public in general,
at last ignited the daring revolt of anti-communist students at Shin Eui Ju, north-western tip of
Korean peninsula.
The revolt successively spread throughout the entire territory of North Korea and notably heavy fights and confrontations were broken at such major cities as Han Heung, Hae Ju and elsewhere. Thus, the defiant, heroic revolt of anti-communist students of Shin Eui Ju has long become the legend of anti-communism of the Republic. Later it was inherited in the brilliant action of anti-communist students volunteer corps participated in the Korean War. The Ministry issues the commemorative stamp in memory of the patriotic victims and heroic revolt on the occasion of the day of anti-communist student`s uprising recently proclaimed by the Government. |
