Furthermore, the General Assembly decided to urge all the member nations of the UN and of its professional organizations to take an initiative act in carrying out this programs while the UNESCO and other related UN professional organizations urged the UN member nations, particularly the governments of the developing countries to spare no cooperation with and assistance for this educational promotion on efforts. The major educational activities programmed for the International Education Year are directed to achieve the objectives as follows: elimination of adult illiteracy; women's equal right in education; training of semi-skilled workers for development purpose; development of democratic education at primary and middle school levels; stress on aptitude education at middle and high educational institutions; development of educational research; and training of teachers and improvement of on-the-job training. The Ministry of Communications issues a commemorative stamp with a purpose to stress the importance of education and to promote the spirit of the International Education Year hoping that the education in this country continues to make great contributions to building this nation more prosperous and stronger. |
