The Korean Children`s Hall will be opened to the public on July 25.
The children's hall, a modern 18-storied building erected on the midslope of Namsan hill in Seoul by Yukyong Foundation, occupies a site of 1,980 square meters and has a total floor space of 12,210 square meters. Dedicated to primary purposes of advancing anti-communist spirit, nourishing interest in scientific studies, teaching in cultural arts, improving physical standards and promoting welfare of the children, the hall will sponsore and undertake such diversified programs and activities as educational exhibition; training and lectures on athletic games and exercises; local circuit exhibitions; tourist guide service; production of children`s films and dramas; musical contests; provision of scholarships; arts and handicraft exhibition; and counselling service. To expedite this program and activities, the children`s hall building houses such facilities as gymnasium, swimming pool, exhibition room, theater, audio-visual room, amusement room, workshop, musichall, arts studio, home life room, library, rotating sky lounge, observatory, planetarium and natural monument room. The Ministry of Communications issues a commemorative postage stamp to celebrate and publicize the official opening of the Korean children`s hall which is expected to contribute greatly to the promotion of the children`s welfare and their health growth. |
