| Description | ||||
|
Korea, though it was liberated in 1945, remains divided into halves along the
38th Parallel.
The artificial barrier, which was imposed soon after the liberation, has kept our fifty million Korean people separated in the south and north for more than a quarter of a century. In order to end the tragedy of division and bring about progress and prosperity for both south and north as one homogenous nation which has inherited a history and tradition of 50 centuries, our people are now called upon to unite in their effort to achieve peaceful unification of the fatherland through their independent endeavor and wisdom. To pave the way for the realization of our cherished desire to unify our divided land, our people should enhance the ideals of the October Revitalizing Reform, establish a sound, solid national stance and purpose, and redouble their determination to attain unification based on democracy. At the same time, diligence, self-help and cooperation should be practiced as our way of life. Praying that the development of our self-reliant national strength and capability through the concerted effort of our people will hasten the day of unification, the Ministry of Communications is issuing this special stamp dedicated to our ardent national aspiration for unification." |
