| Description | ||||

The Ministry of Communications is issuing this postage stamp as the third one of a
series of three kind of newly designed 10-won regular stamps.
This stamp depicts the New Community Movement in the Republic of Korea. Inspired by President Park Chung Hee, the New Community Movement was launched in 1971. The movement, based on the three principal tenets of diligence, self-help and cooperation, is designed to improve the living environments and increase rural income as major part of the popular effort to build up national strength. The movement is now in full swing through the country. As a result of the movement carried on over the past two years, the rural communities have shed their chronic backwardness and laid groundwork for the improvement of their lot. The movement has also inspired the urban communities to upgrade the quality of life. The Ministry of Communications is issuing this regular stamp hoping that the movement will grow into a concerted popular campaign to accelerate the pace of our national development. |
