| Description | ||||
|
The Ministry of Communications is issuing these two postage stamps as the second part of a series
featuring 10 kinds of fruits grown in Korea.
2. Grapes: This smooth-skinned juicy fruit is produced by a latifoliate vine of the family Vitaceae, the grape family. The grapevine, with alternate leaves, creeps along the ground or climbs by tendrils. Greenish white five-pedaled flowers bloom in a panicle in early summer before a cluster of the deep purple, dark purple, pink, red or yellowish green berries are borne. Rich in sugar and vitamins, the berry is eaten dried or fresh as a fruit or fermented to produce wine. |
