The Ministry of Communications is issuing these two stamps as the fourth part
of a series depicting Korea`s traditional musical instruments.
HaiKeum: A two-stringed fiddle which has no fingerboard, this instrument is played by running the hairs of the bow between the two strings. It is a major component of the traditional orchestra. It also plays an essential part in chamber and dance music. Haikeum is one of the only two traditional Korean musical instruments which are played with a bow. The other is Achaing, which has seven strings. |
