| Description | ||||
|
His Excellency Gerald R. Ford, President of the United States of America pays a
state visit to the Republic of Korea on November 22 and 23 at the invitation of President Park Chung Hee.
President Ford is the third U.S. President to visit Korea. President Dwight D. Eisenhower visited Korea in 1960 and six years later, in 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson also paid a visit to this Republic. President Ford`s visit to Korea is especially significant because he is visiting Korea, along with Japan, before any other countries since he was inaugurated as U.S. President. During his two-day visit to Korea, President Ford will hold summit talks with President Park to discuss matters of mutual interest and other matters of common concern. All the people of this Republic are called upon to extend their hearty welcome and warm hospitality to the leader of our staunch ally upon his visit to this country. Hoping that President Ford`s state visit to Korea will provide another major momentum for further strengthening of the traditionally close Korea-U.S. ties, the Ministry of Communications is issuing this commemorative stamp. |
