| Description | ||||
|
The year 1974 is the year of rabbit according to the Oriental zodiac.
It is the year of Eul-myo a combination of one of the 10 Heaven's Stems and another of the 12 Earth's Branches. These stems and branches are combined to form a sexagenary cycle. As the year-end nears, we tend to become emotional and meditative over the year that is about to pass, while at the same time we are filled with joy and new hopes as we prepare to greet the new year which is dawning. Traditionally, around this time of year Koreans visit their relatives and friends, while they exchange the cards of New Year`s greetings with those whom they have not met or corresponded with very often. Hoping that our continued diligence and cooperative endeavors for the modernization of our country will make the new year another prosperous and rewarding year and that all of our wishes will be fulfilled, the Ministry of Communications is issuing these two kinds of postage stamps for use on the letters of New Year's greetings. |
