Description
Construction of the main building of the National Assembly, which has been under way on a 100000-pyong building site on Yoido Island across from the Great Han River Bridge, is slated for completion on September 1, 1975.

This magnificent building of the legislative branch of government, the symbol of democracy where representatives of the people will exchange views in the discussion of important state affairs in accordance with the will of people, is to be equipped with whatever convenient facilities are conceivable for the smooth functioning and activities of the legislature and legislators as well. It is indeed a historical edifice which is so designed as to be used even after the attainment of our cherished desire for the reunification of south and north Korea, when a bicameral system is likely to be put into effect.

The new capital Building complex is to cover a total floor space of 42600 pyong, including the 24700-pyong main building comprising two underground stories and six stories above the ground. To be added to the main building are such buildings as a library, an assemblymen's hall and many others.

In order to increase the level of national prestige, at the same time praying for the successful fulfillment of the sacred duties imposed on this sanctuary of democracy in the future, the Ministry of Communications is issuing this commemorative postage stamp.
