| Description | ||||
| The 14th Convention of the International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors' Associations (IFAWPCA) will be held in Seoul from September 7 through 13 this year.
It was in 1964 that the 5th Convention of the IFAWPCA was held in Korea for the first time under the sponsorship of Korean contractors. The forthcoming convention to be held in Seoul for the second time is expected to prove very significant, with building contractors from various countries of Asia, the Pacific, America and Europe taking part for the exchange of techniques and information as well as for the promotion of mutual friendship and cooperation among themselves. The construction business circle of Korea, which have grown up to the international standard by virtue of the government's economic development plans for three consecutive periods, have contributed a great deal to the construction and development of our national land through the building of production plants, housing units, dams and civil engineering projects. Furthermore, our construction firms have responded willingly and successfully since the mid-1960's to the call of our government for increased export, besides enhancing our national prestige overseas, by means of exporting predominant techniques and manpower. On the occasion of this significant international event, the Ministry of Communications is issuing a commemorative stamp in the hope that our construction business circles will continue to achieve further development and growth on an international scale, at the same time helping the nation strengthen private diplomacy on a people to people basis. |
