| September 28 has been designated by the International Tourism Organization as International Tourism Day so as to have all the countries of the world observe it every year by sponsoring various worldwide events designed for the promotion of international tourism and friendship.
A colorful program of events is to be held also in Korea for the purpose of formenting a tourist atmosphere through having all the people recognize anew the importance of the tourist industry. In observance of this meaningful day, the Ministry of Communications is issuing commemorative postage stamps with Mt. Sorak and Yeongweol Gossi Gul(the Go's Limestone Cave in Yeongweol) as their themes in order to publicize the tourism industry of Korea, thereby contributing to the promotion of international tourism. 2.
