Description
On April 22, 1970, President Park Chung Hee proposed the Saemaul Undong (New Village Movement) as a road to the prosperity of the nation.

The past six years that followed the launching of Saemaul Undong have been a fruitful period of growth in which the entire nation, united harmoniously in the guiding tenets of the Saemaul Undong of diligence, self-help and cooperation, made all-out efforts to modernize, and grow the strength of our fatherland.

Seurely armed with the Saemaul spirit, we are marching ahead forcefully and enterprisingly so as to create a milestone of modernization of the fatherland on this land so that we may hand down a glorious country to our next generations.

Taking pride in being the creator of a new glorious chapter of the nation's history, we must go on sweating and persevering until we achieve a welfare state of prosperity and stability, which will facilitate the peaceful reunification of the fatherland.

On the occasion of the 6th anniversary of President Park's proposal of Saemaul Undong, the Ministry of Communications issues five kinds of special postage stamps in order to renew our determination and demonstrate our will and capability to the people of the world.
