With the coming into force of the Basic Law for Civil Defense on August 26, 1975, the Civil Defense Corps was formally organized on September 15 of the same year, thus offering an epochmaking momentum for the civil defense of our country.

The Civil Defense Corps is a means of highly efficient and systematic self-defense, designed for the protection of our own lives and property against any possible attack from the enemy and all sorts of calamities, natural or otherwise.

Unter the guidance of our government, all the members of the Civil Defense Corps cultivate their power and ability in preparaion for countering any crises such as Communist onslaught and unexpected disasters, and for relief and reconstruction work afterward. In other words, they devote themselves to the building of a firm foundation on which to defend and protect our own communities and places of work, and contribute greatly to the promotion of esprit de corps among all the pepole.

In observance of the 1st anniversary of the Civil Defense Corps, the Ministry of Communications is issuing this postage stamp to pay tribute to all the Civil Defense Corps members for their sustained efforts and to publicize their activeties widely both at home and abroad.
