Muryangu-jeon Hall of Busok-sa Temple being the main prayer hall of Busok-sa Temple, is noted for its buoyant and elegant structure. Built toward the end of the Koryo Dynasty in the 13th century it is designated National Treasure No.18. Muryangsu-jeon means a prayer hall where Buddha, who is equipped with infinite amount of light and immortal longevity, is enshrined. Although not too big in size, Muryangsu-jeon is the oldest wooden structure existing in Korea. It is indeed an excellent wooden structure which is different from other structures of its kind in that delicate workmanship is not used for decorative purposes. |
