| Description | ||||
| The Ministry of Communications selected Punch-ong Bottle, decorated with Figures of Flower and Fish, and Celadon Cylindrical Bottle with a Willow-tree design on either side, as the theme of the 5th and last of a series of postage stamps depicting Korean ceramics.
1. Punch ong Bottle: The whole surface, except for the upper end and the base, is thickly covered with brushed white slip. Two fish are depicted generously on the front, while the upper and lower flanks are decorated with peony leaves and plantain patterns, respectively. It is glazed lightly in light blue with some glazing. 2. Celadon Cylindrical Bottle: The glaze and clay belong to those used for the manufacture of celadon ware. A willow-tree design is painted in under-glazed iron on either side. The straight wall of the body is beveled at the top to meet the flat shoulder, out of which rises a short neck with flaring mouth-rim. The greenish gray glaze shows a warm brown as a result of oxidation except at the base, and this rather adds to the elegance of the bottle. |
