Description
As the steady industrialization following the Industrial Revolution has resulted in the gradual destruction of Nature, the problem of nature preservation has come to the fore. Development of culture through the exploitation of nature is desirable on one hand, and has an undesirable aspect on the other in that man can acquire value at the sacrifice of nature.

When the destruction of nature exceeds a certain limit, an ecological confusion ensues. Through numerous precedents shown by advanced counties of the World and through our own experience, we know well that Nature brings us unimaginably horrible disasters when we neglect the protection and preservation of our natural environment. Thus, protection and preservation of nature through the minimization of the pollution of nature have become an important task imposed on man.

Our forefathers have bequeathed us the beauty of nature in our Land of the Morning Calm . And it is a great duty of us all to hand it down to our descendants intact. All the people of Korea are requested to join in the nature preservation movement positively, as has been advocated by president Park Chug Hee. The President said the spirit of holding dear and preserving nature is the spirit of defending and loving the county. Pollution of nature may be called a necessary evil accompanying the industrialization and the development of nature. However, when we think of the fact that nature once destroyed is hard to recreate or duplicate, we should check ourselves to be under strict control.

The Ministry of Communications issues a definitive postage stamp in the hope that all the people of the country will take part vigorously in the pannational drive for nature preservation.
