| The 30th anniversary of founding of the government of the Republic of Korea, falls on August 15 this yeatr, 1978.
Thirty years ago this day, the government of the Republic of Korea was established, pursuant to the provisions of the constitution stipulating the presidential system, unicameral legilature and separation of the three branches of government. Thus, the sovereign independence of our country was declared to the entire world community. During the past three decades, we have successfully overcome numerous challenges and trials, national and international alike, keeping on sustained efforts to restore the traditional glory of our fatherland and to have our divided halves reunified. As a result we have established a solid foundation on which to contribute a great deal to the development and prosperity of the world. Especially since the establishment of the Third Republic, we have achieved prominent national identity and welfare system thanks to our leader's outstanding political ideals and the successful performance of our Revitalization Reforms. Refreshing the joyful memory of pride and excitement, all of us experienced 30 years ago, at the same time praying for eternal peace, freedom and the long-cherished reunification of our divided territory, with a firm resolve to do all our mighty best for the accomplishment of our mission, the Ministry of Communications is issuing a commemorative postage stamp on this occasion. |
