That is, the purpose of strengthening national security is, in other words, to protect each and everyone of ourselves. The Republic of Korea has been playing a vital role in the keeping and fostering of world peace, as the only frontier bastion of the Free World in the Far East region, while checking under control and thwarting the ever-existent plot of aggression of the North Korean Communist war-mongers. Thus, our country is historically entrusted with the extremely important mission of preserving our national sovereignty and the legitimacy of the entire people of Korea.

All the people of our Republic are called upon solemnly to be armed with a correct understanding of, and a strong sense of mission with regard to, the pan-national duty of promoting national security, as it is the supreme and formost responsibility imposed on us as a whole. Keeping in mind, in our daily life, such a strong sense of mission and responsibility for bolstering national security in close harmony and unity, all our people should be resloved anew to make a great contribution to the freedom and prosperity of all mankind as well as our own country.
