Description
As a result of the change in the postage rates that was made and went into effect on January 10, 1980, the Ministry of Communications issues two new definitive stamps of 15-won and 90-won denominations. They are for the basic rates for second and fourth class letter post and registered post respectively.

1. Mr. Sorak.
Ranging over an area in Kangwon Province, along the East Sea, including the counties of Injae, Yangyang and Kosung, and Sokcho City, and rising 1,708m above the sea level, Mt. Sorak is one of the most beautiful mountains in Korea and was designated by the Government as a National Park in 1970. Mr. Sorak reveals a different kind of breath-taking beauty in each different season of the year. The mountain is divided into Inner Sorak, the inland side, and Outer Sorak, the sea side, because of the marked difference in each side in topography, climate and plants that grow there. Some of its attractions are the Chonbuldong Valley, Biryong (the rock of a flying dragon), the Yang Falls, and such Buddhist temples as Shinhung, Paikdam and Pongjung.

2. Paikryung Island.
This is a small offshore island 44.1 sq. km. in area, to the north of Inchon. It belongs to Kyunggi Province. The island, which is markedly eroded by sea water, is richly fertile and farming is being done, but most of the inhabitants are engaged in fishery. Together with Yunpyung Island nearby, it is serving as the base for the catching of yellow corvinas. The westernmost island of Korea, it was long ago an island to which criminals were exiled, but today it attracts a special interest and has added importance because of its location.
