Beauty contestants from more than 80 countries, their chaperones, Miss Universe officials and reporters will come for one of the most colorful and beautiful of all the events of the world. The contestants will begin to arrive in Seoul on June 15. The opening ceremony, on June 28, will be followed by a series of splendid preliminary pageants, including one for national costume presentation. During the pageant period, the contestants and their entourage will visit some scenic and cultural spots of Korea, and television cameras will follow them, so that people at home and abroad may take a look at those spots together with them.

The final contest, on July 8, will be the climactic moment which will be broadcast live all over the world, interspersed with introductions to Korea, its people and culture, The live telecast is expected to be watched by 600 million people in some 50 countries.
