| Description | ||||
| September 28, 1981 marks the eighth World Tourism Day. The United Nations characterized international tourism as "A passport to peace", and also as "An industry recommendable for all countries". In 1973 the U.N. created "The World Tourism Day", and asked for friendly cooperation by all countries in the promotion of world tourism.
Every World Tourism Day since 1975, the Ministry of Communications has issued two commemorative stamps depicting two well-known scenic sites, in an attempt to direct the attention of people, both at home and abroad, to our country's places to visit. The following two stamps, depicting Seoul Tower and Ulreung Island respectively, have been designated for this year: 2. Ulreung Island. |
