| Description | ||||
| The 27th World Amateur Baseball Championship Series is held in Seoul for 15 days, September 4-18, 1982.
A total of 12 teams, representing all the continents of the world, will play in the 66 games of the series. These games, held biennially, started in England in 1938 with the U.S.-Great Britain game, but have since grown into an international sports festival worthy of the name. After having been held for a long time only in Central and Southern American countries, the Series was hosted by Italy in 1978 and by Japan in 1980. The 27th Series is held in Seoul according to the decision made by the 1977 Congress of the International Association of Amateur Baseball (AINBA). It is expected that by hosting a World Amateur Baseball Championship Series, the world's most authoritative amateur baseball games, Korean amateur baseball will demonstrate not only its techniques of play, but also its ability to manage a successful world series. The Ministry of Communications issues this postage stamp in commemoration of the 27th World Amateur Baseball Championship Series, which is believed to give us an opportunity to make our amateur baseball known to the world. |
