| Description | ||||
| President and Mrs. Soeharto of the Republic of Indonesia make an official visit to the Republic of Korea October 16-19, 1982 at the invitation of President Chun Doo Hwan.
Indonesia, with a population of 147 million and an area of 1,910,000sq. km., is a South-Eastern country with the richest natural resources in the region, its main exports being petroleum, lumber and rubber. Indonesia established formal relations with our country in 1973, and although it has since formally kept itself neutral about South and North Korea, it has in fact been more sympathetic with us in international affairs. This visit to our country by Soeharto is made in return for President Chun's visit Indonesia made in June last year as part of his visits to five ASEAN countries. During his visit here, President Soeharto will have summit talks with President Chun, discussing matters of mutual relations in the fields of politics, economy, culture and other matters. The Ministry of Communications issues this commemorative postage stamp as a sign of our nation's hearty welcome of President Soeharto's visit to our country. |
