| Description | ||||
| The 37th JCI World Congress meets in Seoul November 3-18, 1982.
The Congress will be attended by more than 10,000 presons, including five thousand delerates from the 84 member countries of the world, and many Korean JCs. The Junior Chamber International was first organized in Mexico City in 1944 and held its first congress in Panama in February, 1946. It has since grown steadily until today when its 600,000 members are active in 84 countries. The Korean JC has been active for thirty years and its present membership reaches 20,000, which puts Korea among the four biggest member countries. The JCI meets annually in order to bring young businessmen of the world together and provide a forum for them to present and discuss the social, economic, and cultural problems that face the world of today, such as great urban communities, environment, energy, world trade, etc. It is hoped that their discussions and proposals will help stimulate world opinions which are conducive to the understanding and solving of the problems. The Ministry of Communications issues this stamp in order to commemorate the 37th JCI World Congress, which is expected to contribute greatly to world peace and prosperity. |
