| Description | ||||
| The Ministry of Communications has designated the seven days from November 18 to 24, 1983, as the 11th Philatelic Week and issues a special postage stamp for the occasion.
During the Week, the Ministry holds postage stamp exhibitions, and the regional communications offices put on philatelic slide shows to promote philately among the public. This year's postage stamp exhibitions, which will display the collections entered through the screening of the regional communications offices, are planned to choose the stamps to be displayed at the national postage stamp exhibition to be held on April 22, next year, and the world exhibition PHILAKOREA 84 to be held in October, 1984. PHILAKOREA 84 is being held October 22-31, 1984, at the Korea Exhibition Center, by the Ministry of Communications and the Philatelic Federation of Korea under the patronage of the International Federation of Philately (FIP), in commemoration of the hundredth year of Korean postal administration. A total of 2000 frames of stamps will be shown at the world exhibition, which is expected to be the biggest exhibition ever held in Korea because it is to be participated in not only by philatelists and stamp dealers from home and abroad, but by a number of foreign postal administrations. The Philatelic Federation of Korea holds philatelic lectures in preparation for PHILAKOREA 84 during the Philatelic Week. |
