Description
The Ministry of Communications issues three kinds of new definitive postage stamps: a 300-won stamp, and two kinds of 1000-won stamps. The two 1000-won stamps, which are printed consecutively and are manufactured by a combination of lithographic and intaglio printing, are a product of an effort to improve the stamp quality.

1. Ahn Chang-ho (1878-1938).
"Dosna" Ahn Chang-ho, from Kang-suh, Pyungnam Province, goes down in our history as a leading independence fighter who devoted his whole life to resistance against Japan and to his save-the-country movement based on his philosophy of renovation of national consciousness. He worked for the cultivation of Korean enterprises owned by Korean people and the education of people, and in 1913 organized "Heungsa Dan", to help spread his national movement. "What I enteat you to do is this", he cried to the people. "Build up power. Build up power!" In 1962, he was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit for National Foundation.

2. Two Duck-shaped Earthenware Vessels.
These vessels, about 16mm high and about 17mm long and owned by the National Museum in Seoul, belong to the finest of the earthenware pieces made in the Kaya Period (A.D.42?-532). The earthen ducks, looking for feed with their heads hung low down, feature wonderful artistic skill in the curved line of the belly, and in the expressiveness of head, eyes and beak.
