| His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkjah, Sultan dan Yang Di-Peruan Negara Brunei Darussalam, makes an offical visit to the Republic of Korea for three days, April 7-9, 1984 at the invitation of President Chun Doo Hwan.
Brunei is situated on a 5,765sq. km. area on the north-western coast of Borneo, with a tropical climate of high temperature and humidity. Its 200,000 population consists of people of Malay and Chinese origins as well as the aborigines, speaking Malay as the national language. The main resoruces of the country are petroleum and natural gas. The per capita income of its people is $2,000. Brunei, where some of our construction companies are working on various projects, pursues neutral non-alignment diplomacy of its own. It was on January 1, 1984 that formal diplomatic relations were established between Brunei and our country. During his visit, His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkjah is scheduled to have summit talks with President Chun Doo Hwan and exchange views on matters of mutual interest. The Ministy of Communications issues this postage stamp in commemoration ot the visit of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and also as a sign of the hearty welcome our nation extends to him. |
