| The 65th National Sports Festival is being held in the City of Taegu, under the slogan "Powerful Strength, Solid Unity and a Splendid March Forward", for six days October 11 through 16, 1984.
This year's games include track and field, soccer, swimming and other events, totaling 29, and four demonstration events. The national sports festival is held annually in order to promote sportsmanship, which exemplifies unity, perserverance, abides by rules and spirit of fair play. It has also provided an arena where the tenacity and potentiality of the nation are cultivated to enhance our national prestige in international competitions. The Ministry of Communications issues these commemorative postage stamps in the hope that our youths participating in this 65th National Sports Festival will do their very best for the honor of their city or province, and thus exemplify true sportsmanship to the nation. |
