Description
The year 1984 marks the 100th year from the time when the modern form of Korea's postal admininstration was first organized. Postage stamps, therefore, have been in use for 100 years in our country.

In commenoration of this significant point of time, the Ministry of Communications and the Philatelic Federation of Korea are together holding PHILAKOREA 84 (World Philatelic Exhibition), sponsored by the International Federation of Philately (FIP) and the lnter-Asia Philatelic Fedeeration (FIAP), PHILAKOREA 84 is held in Seoul, on the 10.718 square-meter floor of KOEX (Korea Exhipition Center), October 22 through 31, 1984.

A total of 3,500 frames will be on display. including the world's rarest collections sent from many foreign Postal Administrations and brough by world-famous collectors. A large number of dealers at home and abroad will have individual stands. It is expected that PHILAKOREA 84 will become an "Olymiad of Postage Stamps".

A postage stamp is a kind of synthetic art, containing most comprehensively and compactily the political, economical, social, and cultural aspects of a nation in a small space of paper. It also symbolizes an apostle of love for world paper and fraternity. PHILAKOREA 84 will be an international festival at which philatelists from all over the world get together and discuss the philatelic culture of their countries and conduct a collective and cooperative study of postal services.

The Ministry of Communications issues these stamps in commemoration of the Exhibition, which will certainly be successful and contribute to a better understanding between peoples of the world.
