| Description | ||||
| The fishes that inhabit the seas off the Korean coast have been studied by many scientists, home and abroad. Chung Yakjon, usually called "Tasan", once wrote for the journal Chasan Eubo a research article on the ecology of the fishes inhabiting the sea off Heuksan Island. So far, 870 different fishes have been found in the Korean seas, rivers and ponds, but it is expected that more will be found.
The Ministry of Communications will continue for the next few years to issue postage stamps featuring fishes found in the Korean seas and inland waters, in order to provide an opportunity for the general public to take an interest in, and have a correct understanding of, the fishes in and around Korea. The following two are the first of the series of stamps. 1. Gak-si-Bung-eo. |
