Description
The 24th Olympic Games will be held in Seoul September 17 through October 2, 1988. The Olympaid, which traces back to the athletic festival of Ancient Greece, makes its ideal to bring forth a peaceful world. "Harmony and progress", has been adopted as its ideal, and will be long remembered as a glorious event in our history.

In celebration of the event the Ministry of Communications will issue eight kinds of stamps each year from 1985 until 1988. The two following stamps are the second of the series.

2. Boat racing.
Boat racing, a water sport in which the participating teams of oarsmen compete for speed by rowing, is held in beautiful and healthful environment on a river, lake or the sea. Boat racing as a modern sport, which was first introduced to Korea in 1916, was started in the beginning of the 18th century by an English nobleman who kept a luxurious mansion house on the Thames.
